News from the Field

Hey everyone this is my second post on the Elder Thomas Blog. This is kind of a fun project for me. It is kind of funny how I talk like everyone knows about the blog but nobody does. Well Trevor is moving on to knew things, he is being transfered to a area called North Ridge. You can see that is says Ridge at the bottom center of the map. (you can click on the map to make it bigger)

Trevor will become a new District Leader and open a new area. So it looks like his plate is full, but that is the way it is and I am sure he just loves it!! Trevor is sad that he is leaving the area he is in because he was teaching many investigators and wanted to see them enter the waters of baptisim.

The experience of the week was during the baptisim. Trevor arrived at the church and started filling the baptisimal font and went to his church meetings and came back and the water was super dirty. So they had to empty it, but found the water truck and they hooked up the hose and filled the font.

Up to NOW!!!

Trevor left on his mission in march of 2008 and has loved every second of his mission. Trevor spent his first three weeks in Accra MTC where he was thrown into the African culture real fast and feel in love with the people. Trevor has learned alot of things on his mission from wash his clothes the old fashion way to cooking plantains but most importantly he has gained a very storng testimony of the gospel and we can feel it every week in each of the letters he writes!!!Trevor has had three compaions so far. His Companion in the MTC, his trainer, and his current companion. He has served in two diffrent areas. His first area was New Town where he was trained. He had many memerable experiences in the areas he has served. In new town Trevor had a run in on his bicycle. He was riding between cars during rush hour and there was another man heading his direction and trevor try telling him to stop but the man had head phones on and could not hear him and he clipped him and crashed. The other thing about his first area "New Towne" is the house he lived in was right next to a big guTTer, and that is exactly how he pronouned guTTer, with really strong T's. The second area he served in is called Kasoa where trevor was white washed into the mission. It looks as though Trevor has had much success in this area. It seems every time Trevor writes he talks about baptizing someone new during that week. The newest thing that happened is we had the opportunity to talk with Trevor during Christmas Day. Probably the most memorable thing about talking to him on the phone is how his voice has changed so he sounds like he is from Africa. He alos has grown so much! He is so easy to talk too. It appears as though Trevor has learned alot about approching people and has learned to make conversation with those he teaches in the field. When we talked with him on the phone he would just keep talking and talking. I think this is a new characteristic he as learned on his mission!! That is what has happend so far and I hope I can keep this pretty updated!!

This is Elder Thomas' first picture from the field. Of course this is in the plane, does anyone know if this is during take off or landing in Accra? Anyway this is the begining!!!

Trevor and Mom play a little game in their writings to each other. Each week mom picks a line from a song and Trevor has to guess the artist and song. Here is an example of a couple of them....

Mom - So it seems like you are getting the songs that I send pretty easily, so maybe I should go a little bit harder for the music guy.So here it is "hey girl is that you? Man your hair got so long, yeah I like it I really do."

Trevor - The song is Rascal Flats, Thats what I'm doing these days. I tell you I have a music bank in my head.

Mom - Here IS THE SONG FOR THE WEEK; ARE YOU READY She doesn't have any wings. She wears a heart that could melt my own. She wears a smile that could make me want to sing. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

Trevor - The song for the week is Angel by Jack Johnson

Here is are most of the pictures that we have received so far!!
